To stay updated on all experimental activity, you can click this link to watch that forum. Projects (experiments) which are part of this branch will be accompanied by a discussion thread in a dedicated forum.

The purpose of this branch will be to allow easier and broader testing and feedback on proposed changes to the Spigot API. We are pleased to announce that we intend to trial an experimental branch for Spigot, which will be built by both server owners and developers using the -experimental argument to the latest BuildTools. Please also keep in mind that we prefer good attempts at bug reports over no reports at all. Please report bugs, or issues you think might be bugs, to JIRA and not in this thread, Discord, or any place other than JIRA. If you are reporting a bug to JIRA, please make sure that you read the guidelines and have compared the results between Vanilla & Spigot, and also the 1.19.4 versions before reporting - this speeds up the process for us immensely and ensures more bugs get fixed more quickly.
#MINECRAFT SERVER SOFTWARE UPGRADE#
Although it is not necessarily required, ideally you should first upgrade your world completely on 1.19.4 using the -forceUpgrade server argument, and then do the same on 1.20. As always it is not possible to downgrade your server to an earlier version.Īlthough upgrades from between any two version pairs are technically possible, it is recommended that all upgrades are conducted from 1.19.4. Please make sure you have recent and tested backups for your server before upgrading.

Please note that only released (ie, non early access) versions of Java are supported.
#MINECRAFT SERVER SOFTWARE INSTALL#
You can install this from a third party such as Azul Zulu or your Linux package manager. Minecraft 1.20, as with Minecraft 1.18+ requires Java 17 or later. As a server owner or developer please always consider the things you can do to increase API usage (eg, making feature or pull requests, preferring API-driven plugins). As always, plugins using the API should be preferred for this reason. There are no substantial breakages expected for plugins using non-experimental API this release. The primary change is that all content which was previously experimental and required the 1.20 data pack is now generally available. As a result of 1.19.4 (which was released less than three months ago) already including the vast majority of changes and new content, this is in fact a very small update.
#MINECRAFT SERVER SOFTWARE UPDATE#
Update 13 June 2023: 1.20.1 is now available and completely replaces 1.20 (changes are minor and the protocol versions are the same).Ī short time ago Mojang released Minecraft 1.20 and we have now also released the first builds of Spigot for this version.
